I could not believe what the lady said! I was watching some of the Trump protestors after the election. One lady who appeared to be on the verge of tears passionately advised her fellow protestors: “Go get your abortions now!”
In Everything Give Thanks
“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you” (I Thessalonians 5:18). This statement Paul wrote to the church of Thessalonica is one that should be applied to our lives daily. During the holiday season, there is an emphasis on the need for being thankful. However, if we adopt the attitude Paul commanded, we will give thanks “in every thing,” at all times, and not just during Thanksgiving.
Judah and America
The prophet Isaiah was sent to preach to the people of Judah. The people of Judah were God’s people, but Judah had become corrupt and had forsaken God’s laws. Isaiah warned the people to turn from their evil ways or they would be taken into captivity.
"What Must I Do To Be Saved"
There could be no question of greater importance. The answer to this question will determine where each person will spend eternity.
Take Heed Lest Ye Fall
The opening part of First Corinthians 10 is a review of Israel’s wilderness wanderings. God had led His people out of Egyptian bondage and across the Red Sea. God blessed the people in the wilderness, providing them with the necessities of life.
Don't Forget God
“Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day” (Deuteronomy 8:11). These are the words Moses spoke to the children of Israel just before they entered into the land of Canaan.
Holding to the Profession of Faith
There is a book of the New Testament that is designed to inspire Christians to hold fast to the profession of faith. That book is the great book of Hebrews. One of the key passages of the book is Hebrews 10:23: “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised).”
BAPTISM, WORKS, AND SALVATION
What does the Bible teach about baptism, works, and salvation? All who study the Bible will immediately agree that salvation from sin is not “by works.” Many verses of the New Testament reveal this Biblical fact: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9). Paul wrote to Titus: “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost” (Titus 3:5). Paul also wrote concerning salvation: “Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began” (II Timothy 1:9).
RACISM, PREJUDICE, AND THE BIBLE
Most Americans are somewhat familiar with the Declaration of Independence. Perhaps, the lines we remember best are the following: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights; that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
